Why we quote Bobcat
Bobcat covers more ground than most buyers expect. The range starts with pallet jacks, stackers, stand-up trucks and pantograph reach trucks for racked storage. It runs through electric and LP cushion-tire trucks for indoor slabs. At the top are diesel pneumatic machines rated up to 55,000 lb for steel, coil and heavy plant work. Northeast Ohio has all of that, often in the same town.
Tire choice is the decision buyers most often get wrong. Cushion tires belong on finished concrete. Pneumatic tires belong anywhere the truck meets gravel, broken asphalt or a yard. Many older plants in Akron, Canton and Barberton have both inside one fence line. If any real part of the job is outside on a rough surface, choose pneumatic, even if most of the work is indoors.
Winter road salt is the factor most buyers underestimate here. A truck that crosses a salted dock apron from December through March corrodes much faster than one that stays inside. Salt attacks masts, carriages, chains and electrical connectors. For yard trucks, we treat sealed connectors and added mast protection as standard, not an upsell. Buying a used Bobcat forklift: what to check
These checks separate a good used truck from an expensive one. You can make every one of them before you commit.

Corrosion first, hours second
On any truck that spent Ohio winters outdoors, corrosion matters more than the hour meter. We check mast channels, carriage, chains and every electrical connector first.

Tires are a real line item
A set of pneumatic tires on a heavy machine costs real money. Worn tires are fine if the price reflects them. They should be priced in, not found after delivery.

Attachment wear
A clamp, rotator or fork positioner has its own service life. If the truck came with one, we inspect and price it on its own.

Frame and mast on heavy units
Steel and heavy plant work stresses a machine in ways warehouse work never does. On anything above 15,000 lb, we inspect for frame cracks and mast distortion.

2 How heavy do Bobcat forklifts go?
Bobcat forklifts run from 3,000 lb warehouse trucks up to 55,000 lb diesel pneumatic machines. The heavy end suits steel, coil, precast and heavy plant work. We fit the mast, carriage and attachments to what you actually lift. That matters when loads are long, off-center or oddly shaped.
3 Do I need pneumatic or cushion tires?
You need pneumatic tires if any part of the job is outdoors on an unfinished surface. Pneumatic tires have the clearance and tread for gravel and broken asphalt. They still work well indoors on a decent slab. A cushion-tire truck struggles as soon as it leaves finished concrete.
4 Does winter road salt shorten a forklift's life?
Yes, winter road salt speeds up corrosion and shortens a forklift's life. It attacks masts, carriages, chains and electrical connections. A truck that works a salted yard all winter ages faster than one kept indoors. For yard trucks, we spec sealed connectors and added mast protection. We also suggest greasing and inspecting more often than the baseline schedule.
